INTERNATIONAL NEGOTIATIONS TRAINING GROUP (MARCH 2007 - JANUARY 2010)

The idea of the International Negotiations Training Group (INTNEG) of the United Nations Youth and Student Association of Austria - Academic Forum for Foreign Affairs (AFA) was based on an initiative of AFA Member Theeraphat ("Tim") TRANGKATHUMKUL from March 2007.

INTNEG simulated current or past interstate meetings as round table discussions between the involved parties, debating on a possible solution.

The goal of the negotiators was, to bring their point of view on the floor and try to convince the others of their opinion and finally to come to a compromise, that all parties can agree upon.

► Each month interested students applied for a position available in the simulation.

► Each month one dispute was chosen: from armed conflict to political or economic crisis management.

► In each simulation, every participant was confronted with the real conflict scenario and had to find a solution through negotiations with other parties.

Interested students also participated in the audience to comment the negotiations and vote upon the best negotiator.

An overview of our meetings is available via "REVIEW".
